This issue is broken into four sections as follows.
Rooikat 105mm Reconnaissance Vehicle (pages 1-13)
The impressive 8-wheeled Rooikat is featured with seven pages of colour semi-close
up shots as well four pages with detailed close-ups of the hull and turret
exterior.
60cm KARL-Geräet 040/41 (pages 14-81)
This large section starts with six pages covering the rail transport
trucks for the Karl supplemented with excellent line drawings of the truck
gantry
supports. Following this are six pages with excellent photos and 1/35 plan
view drawings of the Pz IV based Munitionsachlepper including photos during
the transfer of the rounds to the gun. Next comes sixteen pages with detailed
photos of the Kablinka Karl with plan view drawings showing the early and
late suspensions.
Lastly there are 32 pages of wartime photos showing various Karl's in action,
while the majority are of the 60cm Karls there are six pages of the 54cm
version while the seven pages with large photos showing the loading
sequence
offer excellent details of the breech and loading platform. There are also
some shots of the 60cm Karl firing that don't show many details but are impressive
all the same as are a few photos of concrete gun bunkers on the receiving
end of the huge rounds.
A few of the in-action shots have been seen before but the detail shots of
the Karl, the rail trucks and the Munitionsachlepper are superb and just
the thing for the coming Trumpeter kit.
Chinese Tank Development (pages 82-124)
This section illustrates the development of Chinese tanks from the end of WWII
from the IS-2s, ISU-152s and T-35-85s to the later Type 59 (T-54 based) and
Type 69 (T-55 based) tanks. There are shots of the vehicles on exercise
as well as many shots of both types during the two Iraq wars, as you would
except most of these are of disabled or destroyed vehicles but there are
a few of vehicles captured intact to show some good details.
Type 95 Light Tank (pages 125-142)
Following the mostly wartime pics of the Type 95 in Issue 115 this section
has detailed photos of a museum vehicle showing extreme close-up photos of
the hull and turret exterior as well as the interior for a superb coverage
of the type 95.
Another excellent issue.
