Review by Terry Ashley
While small in size, measuring 8 3/8” x 6” (213mm x 153mm) it has an expanded 80 pages packed with super close up photos of all those details modellers really love.
The first couple of pages have a short technical description of the vehicle with the remaining pages devoted to the photos with captions and text in Polish and English with the photos split evenly between colour and B&W.
Almost every part of the vehicle is covered in great detail with multiple pages devoted to each sub section with the only area not shown being the engine.
The hull walk around has extreme close-up photos of virtually every part of the vehicle with overhead shots of the engine deck and details of the running gear and tracks with the extra pages used to good effect with many extreme close-ups of details such as the towing shackles, hatches and fenders.
The hull interior is also shown with more detailed photos of the driver's and fighting compartments with drawings of sub-section susch as the driver's hatch opening mechanism.
The photos are supplimented with illustrations from the tech manual with cut-away drawings of the road wheels and suspension as well as drawings of the engine compartment and other sections of the vehicle.
The turret is covered in the same manner with superb exterior detail shots of the hatches, ventilators and other details including interior details with the photos of the gun breech, seats, gun controls and wall fittings supplemented by a few line drawings and again show every part of the turret to great effect.
Further tech manual illustration also supplement the turret detail photos to show the external details as well as interior fittings.
Below are a few sample pages that best illustrate the detailed images.
A superb photo reference on the T-34-85 and if you only want a single modelling reference then this would easily be the one as the photos are simply superb and will be invaluable to anyone building the big Trumpeter kits or any other.
