Wespe Driver's Compartment

Review by Terry Ashley

TamiyaThis set has been available for a while but is still worth having a look at as it provides a very complete and well detailed driver’s compartment for the Tamiya Wespe (Kit #35200).

Consisting of 25 cleanly cast parts in cream resin and a short length of plastic rod the thing most noticeable is the almost complete lack of casting blocks on the parts with only minimal cleanup needed on the parts, some of which are quite small.

The set gives you a detailed floor with seats and other details plus the engine firewall and rear compartment bulkhead with radiator with the large air cleaner for the bulkhead.

The large transmission and final drives are included as well as all driver’s levers, foot pedals, instrument panel and seat backs and new driver’s hatches with actuating arms which can be fitted open or closed.

No alterations are needed on the Tamiya kit to fit the compartment which makes for a trouble free fit and it should be noted that this will not fit the Alan Wespe kit without considerable work.

The instructions are noteworthy as they are very comprehensive with text notes on the construction as well as exploded view line drawings showing the placement of the parts as well as photos of the assembled parts inside the Tamiya kit hull with the parts called out by number and additional text notes on the parts placement for as mentioned very comprehensive and easy to follow instructions.

Conclusion:
A well detailed driver’s set with little cleanup needed on the parts and comprehensive instructions make this an easy to assemble set to add to the Tamiya kit that will fill out the front office nicely.

Highly recommended
