M4A1 with Appliqué Armor
Conversion for Italeri M4A1
1/35 #F015

While this isn't a direct kit comparison it is interesting to see how similar M4A1 hulls
from other manufacturers have been handled.

The Formations hull has the correct splash guard contours as well as all
detail separate for good detail definition with details such as the front casting
symbol and details on the MG cover attachment ring and separate engine deck.
Formations
The Verlinden hull (#834) has incorrect splash guard and front hatch fairing contours as well as
the front hull corners being too rounded and is also slightly shorter than the other two hulls.
Verlinden
The Dragon hull (#6048) has the correct splash guard contours and quite nice
details including the casting symbol on the front hull.
The engine deck is also in two separate parts but of course
doesn't have the appliqué armour panels, this is not a criticism of the kit as
it is the early M4A1 which doesn't have this feature and overall is well done for a plastic kit.
Dragon
The Formations appliqué armour panels are the correct shape with the raised weld seams
positioned correctly while the Verlinden hull has incorrect shaped panels and indented weld seams.

Formations
Verlinden
The Formations transmission cover features casting numbers where the
Verlinden cover does not, both have slightly different styles of retaining bolts.
The Formations transmission cover also has the drain plugs underneath while the
Verlinden again doesn't have this feature.
