US WWII Pioneer Tools
without Brackets and Straps

1:35 #F056
Review by Terry Ashley

This set of US WWII Pioneer Tools are cast in light cream resin without any brackets or straps allowing them to be used away from the vehicle in a diorama setting or with etched brackets and straps for greater detail definition on any WWII US vehicle.

The tools are cleanly cast with a length of brass wire for the handle of the Engine Crank Handle and Track Bar. The resin handles and tool heads are cast separately for greater detail definition and this requires some simple assembly.

After removing the usual casting blocks and some minor resin film the tools can be assembled and to make a better join I drilled small holes in the handles and tool head to fit a small wire pin.

This was done for the Axe, Shovel and Sledge Hammer but the Mattock head and handle were left separate as they are stored separately on most vehicles while the handle for the Engine Crank Handle and Track Bar were made from the wire supplied.

The small instruction sheet has full sized templates for the handle/bar with the Engine Crank Handle having two bends added. I drilled holes in the resin handle/bar to take the wire handle/bar and this requires care as the resin part is only slightly larger in diameter that the handle/bar and the hole must be drilled dead centre.

Conclusion:
A very nicely detailed set of US Pioneer Tools for use in any situation and can offer a nice alternative to the previous Formations Tool Set (F018) cast with the straps in place.

Highly recommended.
