Hussar Productions 1:35 Scale Set #35100
Review by Terry Ashley
The set consists of five parts, the four main wheels and one spare cast in a light grey resin with a very small casting plug to be removed from each wheel. There is some fine resin film in the rim holes that will need care in removing so as not to enlarge the hole in the process as the edges are quite thin. Some of the holes had a little extra resin to be removed and carefully using the tip of a #11 blade will deal with most issues.
Wheels before (top) and after cleanup (bottom) note the excellent sidewall and rim details
The wheels depict the civilian style tread pattern seen in numerous period photos of the BA-64 to provide an alternative to the kit military tread pattern wheels. The resin wheels also resolving the rim/type join issue with the kit wheels with the outer rim contours very well done along with the correctly depicted rim lip/type join. The details on the main rim are also very will done with the contours, rim bolts and central hub all well depicted with the inner brake drums/axle mountings included on the inside of the four main wheels.
Dimensionally the wheels match the 1:35 plans in the Tank Power BA-64 book in both diameter and tread width with civilian style tread pattern very well done with crisp details along with the sidewall embossing included.
Views of the spare wheel added to the roof.
Fitting the wheels to the kits is very straightforward without any alterations required with the kit axles fitting neatly into the corresponding hole in the wheels. The spare required the central mounting hole slightly enlarged to fit the lug on the spare mounting bracket but other than that all fitted perfectly.
With just the minimal cleanup of the resin film in the rim holes the wheels are very easy to fit without any alterations required for a quick and easy wheel makeover.
