Škoda ÚV vz .34 37mm barrel
for Pz.Kpfw.35(t) w/resin recoil cylinder
LionMarc Model Designs 1:35th Scale Set: LM50007
Review by Terry Ashley
Given its lineage and age the kit is really not up today’s standards with some heavy moulding and detail as well as sizable pins marks and some parts fit that needs a bit of TLC. One area that is a little sad is the main ÚV vz.34 37mm gun with the top recoil cylinder armoured jacket the wrong shape and suspect detail along with a very poor depiction of the perforated muzzle brake.
Coming to the rescue here is Lionmarc Model Designs with a replacement brass ÚV vz.34 37mm barrel and resin recoil cylinder cast as a single part as is the brass barrel with the perforated muzzle brake included. The only clean-up needed on either part is a little resin film inside the barrel support openings needing to be carefully removed and it’s then straight into the assembly.
Assembly is very straightforward as the brass barrel tube fits snugly into the resin recoil cylinder and the cylinder has the same mountings as the kit gun meaning there are no alterations required with the resin mounting simply replacing the kit part in the assembly sequences.
Tamiya have retooled the zv.37 7.92mm machine guns in the kit but these can still be improved and Lionmarc already have the solution to this with their set #LM10015 which has two zv.37 7.92mm MGs and preformed brass mountings and I have included one the turret along with the ÚV vz.34 37mm gun in this review.
Also included is the zv.37 7.92mm machine gun from the Lionmarc set #LM10015
Tamiya kit assembled as per instructions for comparison.
Rating 9.5/10
