This is a simple one piece aluminium barrel designed for any of the Alan sIG33, Bison or Grille kits but could also be used on other sIG33 based kits from Dragon etc.
The single barrel is cleanly machined and is drilled out to a depth of 15mm with fine rifling included which in this larger calibre barrel looks quite convincing.
Detail on the barrel is good and it matches the 1:35 plans in the Nut & Bolts Vol.19 and Panzer Tracks No.10 books to within accepted tolerances with the only missing detail is the four small notches around the rear mounting collar which are easy to add with a small drill as they are quite shallow.
There is a bit of work to fit the metal barrel to the Alan kits as the kit barrel is moulded with the lower cradle and gun breech in two halves meaning you have to cut away the plastic barrel while not damaging the breech or cradle parts.
After removing the barrel a 3mm hole is then drilled in the breech to accept the metal barrel neck and from there the barrel fits easily to the kit barrel cradle and breech.
Conclusion:
A nicely machined barrel with the depth of the drilled out muzzle and added
rifling makes for a good appearance but there is a bit of work to add the
barrel due to the design of the Alan kits but the end result is worth the
effort.
