The resin parts are crisply cast without any blemishes and only the usual casting blocks to be removed but there are quite a few small parts that will need care during cleanup and it maybe best not to remove these from the casting blocks until needed.
The main parts are a new engine firewall with detail on both sides although the foot pedals are cast with the firewall without any real definition. The engine block is just the upper three quarters but has some superb details included on all four sides and the full front radiator with separate fan assembly.
All the major engine components such as the intricate exhaust manifolds and the many engine accessories are included as separate parts as well as most of the larger plumbing items with about all that is needed is the finer wiring. Additional etched parts are provided for the engine as well as hood braces and lower hood lip.
Assembly is fairly straightforward with the clear instructions making the
job quite easy although part 31 is numbered 24 on the resin block, so watch
this.
As mentioned there are some very small parts that will require care cleaning
up and during assembly but nothing too difficult.
There are some minor alterations required on the Tamiya kit to fit the engine which again are easy to deal with and the resin radiator simply replaces the kit part.
After fitting the engine and the front radiator to the lower Tamiya body pan
there are addition piping that fits between the engine and radiator for a very
busy compartment. To help with the assembly and further detailing the Plusmodel site has reference images of the engine compartment which will come in very
handy.
Conclusion:
A superbly cast and detailed engine and compartment for the aging Tamiya kit
that will add a new dimension to the final model with relatively easy assembly
considering the number of small parts providing you take your time.
