Reviews by Terry Ashley
Three of the sets have the brass indicators while the fourth (Famo) has copper wire for the stems and separate end “ball” in brass with etched fender brackets included.
You will need to bend the stems to the required angle which is a single small bend for most with the Sd.Kfz.11 bent to the Z profile but this is quite easy using the small instruction sheet as a guide or from the many photos showing these indicators.
The small etched bracket is attached to the fender after firstly removing the plastic detail from most kits and a small hole drilled into the fender to take the base of the indicator.
Set # ME-A001 is for the Sd.Kfz.11,
Sd.Kfz.250 and Sd.Kfz.251 series of vehicles
with four brass width indicators and five etched fender brackets, enough for
two vehicles. These will come in very handy for the numerous 251 kits about
these days with only a couple of kits from both AFV Club and Dragon having
brass indicators included.
Bending to shape is very straightforward but care will be needed with the Sd.Kfz.11
indicators to get the two bends at the right proportions.
Set # ME-A002 is for the Sd.Kfz.7 8-ton H/T Series and Sd.Kfz.232 6 RAD with just four brass width indicators again enough for two vehicles with bending to shape very straightforward and are just the thing for the Tamiya and Italeri kits respectively.
Set # ME-A003 is for the Sd.Kfz.222/223, Sd.Kfz.232/231 8rad, Sd.Kfz.234 series the SWS vehicles as well as the Mercedes Benz L3000 trucks with four brass width indicators and five etched fender brackets, again enough for two vehicles.
Set # ME-A004 is just for the Sd.Kfz.9
FAMO with the indicator stems in copper
wire that will need straightening before used with separate formed brass “ball” which
has a small hole included for easy fitting the end of the wire.
The fender mounting brackets are in two parts each with the circular mounting
plate and mounting bracket which is bent around the wire stem, this will need
a bit of care as the parts are quite small.
Conclusion:
These sets have the various width indicators formed with well defined details
and look nicely to scale to add that extra bit of definition to the appropriate
kits. As these indicators are nearly always over scale in plastic due to
the delicate nature these sets will be more than useful offering many more
options than just the 251 brass indicators in a couple of the AFV
Club and
Dragon kits.
Highly recommended.
