King Tiger (Porsche Turret)
PE Update

Set No. PE 35025
Review by Terry Ashley

Dragon This PE update set is designed for the Dragon Sd.Kfz.182 King Tiger (Porsche Turret) (kit No.6189) and like previous Voyager etched sets sees the PE frets enclosed in a stout cardboard foldout pack that offers good protection for the contents.

The set has six PE frets of excellent finely etched parts with nice relief on the details typified by the excellent effects on floor treadplate and seat back springs with the parts having the usual engraved lines to help with the bending process.

As with previous Voyager etched sets there are different thickness frets for added definition to the parts.

The contents of the set is:

This set provides all the engine deck intake mesh covers as well as the two additional forward debris covers that require the sides to have the curve bent to shape as well as the front and rear fenders with additional folding side panels on the rear fenders.

There are also numerous equipment brackets on the rear hull plate as well as a full set of three part tool clips for all the pioneer tools plus the brackets for the hull side towing cables. The cables themselves are provided as metal wire in the set to add good detail definition and realistic bends.

The turret side spare track mounting brackets are proved in thicker etched metal for good definition and as a bonus you are proved with a thin metal tool/template to add the zimmerit coating to the model, this will prove most helpful.

The instruction sheets have exploded view drawings showing the assembly and placement of the parts which are quite easy to follow but as always study these carefully before assembly.

Many of the detail parts could also be used on other King Tiger models as well as target DML kit.

Another good set to add all those small details the model and the inclusion of the zimmerit applicator is a nice bonus.

Highly recommended.
