The Voyager update set is for Dragons recent Brummbar Mid production kit 6460 and also Cyber hobby 6497 (26) Brummbar Early Production. Along with PE 35297 Brummbar Mid Version basic set and PEA135 Brummbar Mid Version Side Skirts the fender set can provide the full makeover for the Mid production vehicle.
The Brummbar Fender set consists of two etch frets, four small springs, a length of 0.3mm steel for hinges, two lengths of 0.4mm copper wire & two pieces of 0.5mm plastic rod.
The fender set mirrors the construction of the real fender, which does add to the realism, a central frame is constructed, this requires some 90degree bends over a long section which means that the use of a good etched bending tool to bend the framework is essential. On the underside of this framework are fitted strengtheners as with the real vehicle along with a myriad of nuts.
The modeler then has a choice of either dot pattern or checker plate non slip to cover the fender, both of which have detail on the underside as well (the spare set can be put to use from the spares box). The rear plate needs to be carefully installed over the fittings for the air intake louver covers. Again a myriad of bolts that mirror the nuts mentioned earlier are provided.
The air intake louver covers are hinged and can be assembled opened or closed and are provided with all the accessory fittings.
The instructions have templates for the sponson underside floor, which you are instructed to make from 1mm plastic card which is not provided.
The front and rear mudguards are fitted next along with the small springs, with careful assembly they can be made to hinge and spring loaded like the originals. A few small fittings where the fenders attach to the hull finish the assembly.
The Voyager set provides full fenders, which can be assembled from pristine condition or as like the original vehicles fenders, prone to damage and the nature of the brass parts can offer more realism with this respect than the original plastic parts.
