56 pages colour, black & white soft cover
Review by Terry Ashley
The soft cover book has 56 pages with 50/50 Japanese and English text covering the history, development, and operational life along with extreme close-up walkarounds of preserved Ferdinands and Elefants.
There are 14 pages devoted to the history of the Ferdinand and Elefant describing the differences between the two along with some B&W wartime photos to illustrate the text.
This is followed by a set of 4 view 1:35 plans of the Ferdinand and Elephant as well as 2 pages with side view colour profiles showing some of the typical camouflage schemes applied to the Ferdinand and Elephant.
The remainder of the book is devoted entirely to the close-up colour walkarounds of museum Ferdinands and Elephants with each sub-section having brief photo captions as well as additional text in some cases to give further details.
The sections are:
Conclusion:
This is an excellent reference on the Ferdinand and Elephant again aimed
directly at the modeller with the many excellent close-up detail shots with
just enough text to give important and useful information. The small size
of the photos doesn’t
seem to matter as each has a shot of an individual detail part allowing many
more photos to be included than if they were larger yet still showing all
the details you would ever want.
The inclusion of equal Japanese/English text adds greatly to the appeal and usefulness of the book for anyone building the Dragon kits to add that extra detail
Highly recommended.
