British Soldier WW II
1:35 Figure Set #SKP010
Review by Terry Ashley

A new company from the Czech Republic SKP Models has released this simple figure of a typical WWII British Soldier wearing 1937 pattern battledress with beret and posed in casual pose with hands in pockets.

The figure is cleanly cast in a blue resin with just the casting block plus a small casting seam on the front of the right leg and between the lower legs and boots and a very minor seam on the chin and neck to be removed which is quickly done with a sharp blade.

Detail on the figure is excellent given the uniform is fairly basic to start with and has very well done fabric folds and blouse details, although the definition of the trouser pockets is a little understated this can be brought out with careful painting. The facial features are also well done and as the hands are in the pockets means you don't have to paint these.

The figures measures 1.7m (5'6") tall which is perfect for the period and being cast in one piece means these is no assembly and just the minor cleanup to deal with.

Conclusion:
A very nice yet simple figure of a typical British soldier and the casual pose means it can be used virtually in any setting and provides a simple "filler" to give life and perspective to British vehicle models such as the Humber Scout Car just announced by SKP Model.

See the SKP Models website for details of these and other items available.
