As the AFV Club kit already comes with an aluminium barrel you could well
ask why do you need this one?
There are a couple of detail improvements with the ABER barrel over
the AFV
Club barrel with the first being the inclusion of muzzle rifling which
isn't on the AFV
Club barrel.
The second is with the gun collar which is moulded as part of the breech on the AFV Club kit and the collar details are compromised with the join seam on the breech. With the ABER barrel you are required to cut off the gun collar from the AFV Club parts A28,A29 and it's best to glue these together before cutting to ensure and even cut.
After removing the collar the resulting hole has to be slightly enlarged and the ABER barrel then slips inside the AFV Club breech and has the collar details better defined.
The rest of the gun assembly is as per the AFV Club instructions and the ABER barrel does provide additional details to the AFV Club barrel and so its basically your decision if you want the finer barrel details?
