GMC DUKW 353
1/35th Scale
Kit No.07362
First Look Review by Peter Prown

This is another rebox, the kit is the basic Italeri DUKW No. 6392 so any comments, aftermarket items and references apply to this version as well.

Apart from the box - with undersized wheels which from the angle of the image make it look at first sight like a 4x4 not a 6x6 - and a slightly different instruction sheet, the main change is the decal sheet. This has markings for one vehicle described as being for a Royal Army Service Corps at the time of the D Day landings. In fact, it is for 377 Company RASC complete with a cartoon duck, the same unit depicted in Airfix's own DUKW kit in their HO-OO scale range which first appeared in 1965 and is currently available as part of a large set with other vehicles, figures and a pillbox.

No extra parts have been included, so the crew and load shown on the box would have to be sourced elsewhere. The markings are at least more colourful than the original Italeri kit and allow another version out of the box. A photo of one of the unit's vehicle is on the Tank Museum's D Day site at http://www.d-daytanks.org.uk/stories/dukws.html and their own DUKW which is in the same markings as the kit at http://www.tankmuseum.co.uk/guidedtourdday.html
