Buffalo
WWII British Amphibians Pt.1
1/35th Decal Sheet BD-35013
Review by Peter Brown
Printed by Microscale, the individual decal items come on their own small
section of backing sheet with a glossy finish. A few small items come on separate
small sections of decal sheet which will need to be cut out before use. Instructions
are in the form of line drawings of the vehicles giving details of colours
and a list of sources used in the design of the decals, a layout of the decals
sheet with code numbers to identify the items for each subject.
Buffalo Part 1 gives markings for no fewer than six LVT-4, ideal for the
Italeri kit.
Working out who was with 79th Armoured Division at what time is not easy,
at various times 4RTR,11RTR, East Riding Yeomanry, Northamptonshire Yeomanry
and 5th Assault Regiment Royal Engineers used Buffalos.
- Option A is 5th Assault Regiment Royal Engineers at Walcheren
with a small blue and white pennant marking whose purpose I cannot identify
- Option B and C are with 11RTR with vehicle name beginning with
S, 11RTR used the 51 arm of service marking.
- Option D could be East Riding Yeomanry (but I could be wrong!)
- Option
E most likely another 11RTR vehicle
- Option F is a unit Johan Lexell cannot
identify and neither can I.
Note that while the units depicted may well be wrong on the instruction
sheet, these markings are based on photos and as such are correct. No
doubt ideas will surface on internet discussion groups which may finally
identify the subjects.
Highly recommended.
