This second set (#D-028) is for the extended canvas tilt cover over the rear troop and cargo compartments and consists of two parts cast in light cream resin with just the usual casting blocks to be removed and some fine resin film in the rear flap window cut-outs.
Standard of resin casting is superb without any air holes or other blemishes with excellent detail included on both the full tilt cover and separate rear canvas flap cover.
The large cover has excellent canvas contours in between the tilt frames that look very realistic and along the lower edges are the tie down loops; these could be extended a little with tape for a better appearance once the cover is in place on the model.
The separate rear flap has three window cut-outs and you can add the "windows" from thin plastic film; kitchen food cling wrap does very nicely and this also has the lower tie down loops included.
The rear flap fits neatly inside the larger cover but some minor trimming may be needed on the upper corners but test fitting will determine the amount of trimming needed or this cover can be left off to depict the open back looking into the cargo bay if you wish?
The full cover fits straight to the Tamiya kits without any alterations required although there may be some minor trimming needed on the inside lower edges and again test fitting will determine if this is needed and it is only minor if required?
Conclusion: |
This is another simple update for the full troop/cargo compartment cover on the Tamiya FAMO kits with the standard of resin casting being superb with very little cleanup required.
The fit to the Tamiya kit is very good making for a quick and easy update to add a different appearance to the kits and you can use all or any combination of the four sets for further variety.
Highly recommended 8.5/10
