M41/M42/M52 Engine
Hobby Fan Kit No. HF 015
1/35th Scale

Review by Terry Ashley

This simple engine set has been available for a while now with the only kit available till now being the old Tamiya clunker which would seem a waste of a good engine set if used of that kit.

With AFV Club releasing their excellent M41A3 and Skybow to release an M41A1 and M42 later in the year this engine set has new significance.

Cast in a light cream resin you get 11 pieces, the largest are for the engine block and the transmission.

Detail is extensive and with plumbing cast into the end of the engine there is some resin ‘flash’ to be cleaned out from between the wiring, but nothing too difficult.

Care should be taken when removing the casting blocks due to the many small details included in the castings.

Also included is the “T” bars used when lifting the engine in or out of the M41 engine bay.

No instructions are supplied but assembly of the engine is very straightforward and the box top picture will help, adding it to a model is another question with some decent references being a must and you will need to add the engine bay walls etc yourself.

A very nice update set which could be used as a diorama accessory on its own, but giving it a home in the AFV Club kit would look impressive.

Recommended.
