IDF M151 OREV
Conversion Set

Legend Productions 1:35 Set #LF1141
For Academy kit #13406

Review by Terry Ashley

Academy This second IDF OREV (M151A2) Late TOW Missile Vehicle conversion released in conjunction with set #LF1141, has 92 parts in light cream resin plus a large etched fret, length of brass wire with small lead sheet and again is designed for the recent Academy M151A2 TOW Missile Launcher (Kit#13406) but could also be used on the older Tamiya M151A2 TOW Missile Launcher (kit #35125) without too many problems.

This set shares some parts with set #LF1141 such as the replacement wheels and weaponry but has additional parts for the TOW missile launcher and ground mounting.

The quality of the resin casting is again very good with just the largish casting blocks and some fine resin film to be removed before assembly. There were a few parts with minor warping but this is easily fixed with a quick dip in warm water and isn’t a problem and there was the occasional air hole exposed when some of the larger casting blocks were removed but nothing that can’t be filled easily or hidden out of the way when assembling the set.

While there are a lot of small parts with the etched parts adding further details there are no actual alterations required on the Academy kit with most of the parts just straight replacements or add-ons which makes assembly quite straightforward.

The major parts in the set is the full missile launch post and gunner’s seat with the kit launcher tube getting additional resin and etched details that adds considerably to the detail level as well as the radios and racks from etched parts to add further finer details to these assemblies.

The ground mount TOW launcher stand is virtually replaced with resin and etched parts including the intricate central mounting detail in etched metal for good definition.

The set again provides a full set of replacement wheels which have good rim and tyre tread details with the rim lightening holes and central hitch ring very well defined with little or no cleanup required and the small casting block scar can be positioned out of the way at ground contact.

There are numerous smaller detail items which again either replace the kit items or are add-ons with additional personal equipment and again the hood mounted tarp bundle.

The instructions are the usual colour photographs of the model during construction with the parts called out by number and as there are no really complicated assembly sequences they are quite easy to follow.

Conclusion:
This set is again nicely detailed with very little cleanup and gew if any alterations required on the target kit to make well detailed model of the later IDF M151A2 TOW Missile Launcher with along with the Missile re-supply vehicle from set #LF1141 will make a nice matched pair in a diorama setting.

Highly recommended 8/10
