Update Set No. 1409
Review by Terry Ashley
This set from Verlinden
is designed for the Tamiya Kit No.35225. It contains 50 resin parts, a
fret of etched metal, as length of plastic rod and two sections of fine wire.
The instructions show a resin jig for bending the wire to form the seat frames,
but this piece was missing from my set? The quality of the resin casting is excellent,
the parts include a new folded top cover, a covered windscreen, new seats for
the rear plus two radio tables. German radios and telex machines with batteries
and other small fittings are also included. A number of small items of personal
gear finishes off the resin bits.
The etched metal fret includes
engine compartment grills in two parts to simulate the real grills. A number
of other parts are provided to detail the rear seat area for either the radio
or
command version of the Steyr. The only problem with this set is the quality of
the etched metal parts. A number of flaws are resent as a result of the etching
process and are just not up to the quality of other specialist etched metal sets
from Eduard, Aber etc. Overall this is a good update set with nice resin bits
and some useful etched parts and will make a nice alternative to the standard
kit.
