The set contains 220 individual links which have excellent link details including casting numbers and subtle casting texture but there is some excess resin to be removed from each link, this takes about 30 seconds to remove per link once you get into a rhythm.
Unfortunately as these links are quite large and rigid there isn’t much movement and the action of clipping the links together actually broke off quite a few of small pins leaving only a small pin stub to hold the link in place and you have to try and push down as much as possibly while clipping the links together.
After assembly you should handle the track runs with care due to this issue but those links where the pin is intact the join will be very robust and the assembled track runs look very impressive and articulate freely.
There are left and right handed tracks provided in separate plastic bags and you should take care not to mix these up during assembly and that you use them on the correct side of the model once assembled.
The fit of the assembled track runs around the Eastern Express or Trumpeter kit drive sprockets is very good and no other alterations will be needed allowing you to get the realistic track sag characteristic of Russian KV series tanks.
To use these tracks on the Tamiya KV kits you will also need to use the WWII Prod set #35022 KV Sprockets as the track will not fit the Tamiya sprockets due to the drive teeth being way too thick.
The Instructions:
A single double sided A4 page is included which includes general instructions
as well as specific instructions for assembling the links.
Conclusion:
An excellent set of workable tracks for the KV series tanks with well defined
details but a minor assembly issue you have to take care with and are a huge
improvement over the rigid kit racks.
Highly recommended.
See the KV Series Subjects page for reviews of other track and detail sets available on site.
